Which Surgery is right for me? |
LASIK (laser-assisted-in-situ-keratomileusis), LASEK and
PRK (photo refractive keratectomy) are now available to
correct your vision with laser surgery, and are
considered safe and permanent alternatives to wearing
corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses. The structure
of your eyes, as well as your prescription, general
health and job requirements will all be considered to
help determine which procedure is best for you. |

LASIK: |
|
|
LASIK is a procedure that uses cool excimer
laser energy to reshape the cornea, the clear
covering of the front of the eye. The LASIK
procedure addresses nearsightedness,
farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK has
become the alternative of choice for over two
million eyes every year.
|
|
|
The procedure is simple: Once the computer is
tailored to your eye, you will be asked to look
at a target light for a few seconds while the
laser sends pulses of light to painlessly
reshape your cornea. The actual LASIK surgery
usually takes less than five minutes
|
|
|
LASIK may be preferred to other laser procedures
such as PRK (also known as photorefractive
keratectomy, Advanced Surface Ablation and LASEK)
because visual recovery is fast. However, if you
have thin corneas, large pupils, or a high
prescription, or are prone to eye trauma, you
may be a better candidate for a no incision
procedure such as PRK, ASA or LASEK.
|
|
|
|
|
|
LASEK: |
|
|
LASEK is a relatively new refractive procedure
that combines the benefits of LASIK and PRK.
LASEK is a surface ablation technique like PRK
that may provide the patient with faster vision
recovery.
|
|
|
|
|
|
PRK: |
|
|
Since no incision is used with PRK, the top
layer of the cornea is first gently removed,
allowing the excimer laser to reshape the inner
layers of the cornea. This allows the eye to
focus the light better, providing clearer vision
than before.

Take the first step
towards clear vision:
If you are considering laser eye surgery,
your first step is to choose a LASIK
surgeon, such as Dr. Chebil, who can
evaluate whether LASIK, PRK or LASEK are
right for you.
During your initial evaluation, Dr. Chebil
will perform a complete eye exam to
determine if you are a good candidate for
LASIK,
what kind of vision correction you need, and
how much laser ablation (corneal tissue
removal) is required.
Since all corneas are unique, and have
personalized irregularities like
fingerprints, it is essential that you learn
about this
customized treatment plan for your vision.
Financing options for laser eye surgery:
LASIK, PRK, ASA and LASEK are elective
procedures that are not usually entirely
covered by most insurance plans, however
we will work with your insurance providers
to obtain any discounts and payments offered
by your plan.
We also accept most credit cards and offer
easy long-term and 0% financing.
We are
providers for the following vision
insurance plans. Remember, Vision and
Medical insurance are not one in the same,
so please do not hesitate to contact
The LASIK
Center Medical Group and we will help
you. Also, if you do not see your
insurance plan below, please contact
The LASIK
Center Medical Group, as this list is
not all inclusive.
