What is ActiveFX “fractional” laser
resurfacing?
ActiveFX is a fractional laser procedure
performed in a single treatment with minimal patient
downtime. During the procedure, a high-energy beam of laser
light is used to smooth out lines, wrinkles and scars,
remove brown spots and other irregularities.
It also stimulates formation of new underlying collagen to
continue improvement over time. With fractional laser
treatment, only a fraction of the skin’s surface is treated
by the laser, leaving small “bridges” of untouched skin.
This technique makes the healing process much faster and
enables you to get back to normal activities sooner.

What are the benefits of ActiveFX?
- Reduces wrinkles and fine lines, and softens deeper frown
lines
- Noticeably improves skin tone and texture
- Stimulates new collagen formation and plumps the skin
The results of ActiveFX laser treatment are long-term and,
with proper sun protection, can persist for many years. Most
effects of treatment become visible right away, whereas
others – such as new collagen formation – build up gradually
and become more evident over time. Therefore, most people
look even better 3-5 months after the procedure.

Is ActiveFX is
ideal for me?
ActiveFX is right for you if you:
- Have a busy lifestyle or cannot be away from work for a
long time
- Want noticeable results with minimal downtime
- Want to treat fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity.
Individuals who are looking for minimally invasive treatment
options with quick results should seek out ActiveFX. As a
laser based technology, ActiveFX allows for quick skin
rejuvenation with little healing time because it only
resurfaces specific areas of the skin and not the entire
epidermal surface. This invigorates the body’s healing
potential and the skin is renewed in less time. This is
great for those seeking a quicker skin rejuvenation process.

What’s the difference between ActiveFx, DeepFx and Total FX?
ActiveFX is CO2 laser skin resurfacing for the active
person. It is a single treatment that provides significant
results.
DeepFX is CO2 laser skin resurfacing for treating scars and
dermal lesions. Deeper wrinkles and scars have a dermal
component and are most effectively treated by penetrating
deep into the problem areas.
Total FX combines the Active FX and Deep FX systems. The
results are fractional resurfacing of the surface of your
skin, removing sun damage and brown spots, as well as the
deeper skin, removing wrinkles, scars, and uneven skin tone.
Total FX is a complete resurfacing treatment capable of
astounding results.

How soon can I be active after ActiveFX?
Patient recovery from Active FX treatments is rapid. Of
course everyone will heal at various rates depending on the
depth of the treatment, the particular areas treated and
your own healing rate. Light resurfacing around the eyes and
lips in general take only a few days to heal. Most patients
can be treated before the weekend and be almost completely
healed by the beginning of the following week.

What should I expect after the laser skin resurfacing?
You will probably experience some mild swelling and
discomfort similar to a sunburn for a few days. This can be
controlled with ice packs and medications prescribed. There
may be a red, crusted appearance for eight or more days with
the heavier CO² laser or just four days with the Active FX
laser.

When do I see results from ActiveFX?
Results are often visible right away and progressively get
more noticeable as time goes by. The skin will peel and heal
over and new collagen is formed, thus filling fine lines,
removing discolorations on the face, and tightening loose
skin. The results may reach their peak up to five months
after the initial treatment..

-
What is the Active FX recovery period like?
Recovering from the procedure is much like any laser
treatment. The skin may feel slightly sunburned and swollen
and require a bit of cooling. The skin will likely appear as
a sunburn and this will subside over a few days or weeks as
the skin heals and begins to peel. Keeping the skin
moisturized is always a good idea as is avoiding prolonged
exposure to the sun. It is possible to get back to work and
an everyday routine after the procedure as long as the skin
is taken care of.
